To find the focal length of convex mirror using convex lens.
Aim: -
To find the focal length of convex mirror using convex lens.
APPARATUS: -
Optical bench, four uprights, convex mirror, two lens holder two pins.
THEORY: -
f = R/2
OBSERVATIONS: -
Index correction
Length of the knitting needle x = ................... cm
Observed distance between M and C, y = .................. cm
Index correction between M and C = x - y = .....................cm
TABLE: For determination of focal length
Mean r = ................ cm
CALCULATIONS: -
Mean corrected r = ............. cm
The focal length of the convex mirror = r/2 cm
= .............. cm
RESULT: -
Focal length of convex mirror = ............ cm
PRECAUTIONS: -
1. The tips of the needles and the centers of the lens and mirror should be at the same height.
2. The parallax should be removed tip to tip.
3. The distance between the lens L and mirror M should be small.
4. The position of O and L should be not be disturbed while the position of I is being determined.
