To prepare Oxalic acid solution | 250 ml of m/20 | Class 12 Chemistry Practical List

To prepare 250 ml of M/20 Oxalic acid solution.

Dear Students if you are Science Stream so you are most welcome because in this experiment we are prepare oxalic acid solution for determination molarity and strength of KMno4.

Experiment – 1
Class – XII
Subject – Chemistry

to-prepare-oxalic-acid-solution

Aim:-

To prepare 250 ml of M/20 Oxalic acid solution.

A. For the preparation of 250 ml of M/20 oxalic acid solution.

Theory

Molecular mass of oxalic acid (COOH)2 . 2H2O = 126

For preparing 250 ml of M/20 oxalic acid solution, amount of oxalic acid needed.

Procedure:-

i. Weight the clean and dry watch glass and record it weight in the note book.

ii. Weight accurately 1.575 gms. Oxalic acid crystals on watch glass and record its weight in note book.

iii. Transfer the weighed oxalic acid from watch glass into a clean 250 ml beaker. Add 10 ml dil. H2SO4 into beaker.

iv. Wash the watch glass with distil water and transfer the washings to the beaker. Dissolve the oxalic acid crystals in beaker with gentle stirring.

v. Transfer the solution carefully into 250 ml measuring flask through funnel. Wash the beaker with distilled water and transfer the washing into measuring flask.

vi. Add the distil water to measuring flask till the solution stands just below the graduated mark on the flask.

vii. Now add last few drops with the pipette till the bottom of meniscus touches the graduated mark.

viii. Stopper the measuring flask and shake it gently to make the solution homogeneous. Label it as M/20 oxalic acid solution.
